Transport for London (TfL) has announced its support for UITP's 'All together for public transport growth' campaign.
As part of this development, the Mayor of London and TfL revealed a six-year investment has been secured into London's transport infrastructure.
This funding will help support growth in the capital and the UK. TfL states it will be able to modernise the underground links, which will include completing the Northern, Circle, Metropolitan, District and Hammersmith and City lines. It will also start the next stage of improvements.
London's transport commissioner and president of UITP Sir Peter Hendy said: "London can learn from other cities as well as share our knowledge of London and the successes we have already delivered, and are committed to continue to deliver, for the benefit of the capital and indeed the whole country."
TfL stated the city's population is predicted to grow to over ten million in the early 2030s and investment in transport upgrades will be crucial in supporting the rising numbers.
