Informa Exhibitions India is hosting INMEX 2013 - a maritime event for South Asia - at the Bombay Exhibition centre, Mumbai between October 8th and October 10th.
The event - sponsored by the Ministry of Shipping - will feature over 600 companies participating from 35 different countries. This includes country pavilions from the likes of Holland, Norway, Singapore and China.
Areas covered at the event will include port equipment and technology, ship repair and building as well as ocean engineering, underwater robotics and other advanced maritime related topics.
A spokesperson for the event said: "INMEX India 2013 will bring together the national and international shipping and maritime community, making it the best platform to promote India's scope of being a global maritime hub and leader."
The Indian government has also announced a package of $110 billion (£70 billion) for developing shipbuilding and port industries by 2020. Major ports in the country currently have a cargo traffic of around 600 million tonnes - estimated to reach 1,230 million tonnes by 2015.
