Antwerp Port Authority (APA) has announced it is sponsoring the GreenPort congress, to be held in the Hilton Hotel, Antwerp, from October 9th to October 11th.
The event offers attendees the chance to discuss and exchange information regarding the latest developments in the port industry.
Instead of a previous focus towards economic developments, the congress will have a strong emphasis on environment and sustainability. The port authority also states that "future greater importance will be given to social matters that impinge on the port's activities".
Alongside APA, the Left Bank Development Corporation will be involved, while Alfaport will represent private companies from the port.
Congress also coincides with Antwerp Green Week, which APA is also hosting. This will include the presentation of the 2013 Sustainability Report on October 8th.
The authority said it hopes to "welcome all participants at the presentation of the Sustainability Report of the Antwerp port community".
