The Department for Transport (DfT) is helping to support London International Shipping Week (LISW), an important occurrence in the shipping industry.
Held between September 9th and 13th, the event highlights and encourages maritime business within the country. The welcome reception for LISW will be co-hosted by DfT and Maritime UK.
The department will also welcome the international shipping community aboard the HMS Monmouth.
A spokesperson for DfT said the maritime industry in the UK is "a sector already worth up to £14 billion per year" and it is still growing.
It is hoped LISW will provide an opportunity for important international figures in the industry to meet senior members in various government sectors and discuss new prospects for ports, freight and other maritime businesses within the country.
The DfT has said it is working in "close partnership" with the maritime sector to ensure the ongoing growth of the industry.
