Logistics companies have been warned about major disruption in London on the weekend of August 3rd and 4th.
The city will be staging the Prudential RideLondon cycling festival, which transport commissioner Sir Peter Hendy believes will be the largest event since the 2012 Olympics.
Many haulage firms had to overhaul their strategies when the sporting extravaganza took place last summer, with some organisations conducting night-time deliveries and others avoiding the capital altogether for three weeks.
A number of important roads will be closed when the cycling festival gets started and Mr Hendy urged travellers to use public transport. He also thinks people who need to access the city will have to be sensible - just like they were during the Olympics.
"I'm urging everyone to [use public transport] once again so that they don't get caught out and can continue to get around and enjoy the weekend," he remarked.
On Sunday August 4th, drivers have been advised to avoid using roads in east, central and south-west London, while certain parts of Surrey will also be closed off.
