With fuel prices set to rise yet again, logistics companies are under more pressure than ever to drive down costs.
Some organisations are utilising cutting-edge technology in order to reduce their fuel consumption and motoring journalist Quentin Willson recently said truck drivers should keep an eye on their trip computer if they are serious about saving money on diesel.
Shell has launched a new screen for HGV drivers to use in their cabs and this keeps tabs on vehicle fuel usage and driver performance.
Speaking to Logistics Manager, head of the firm's commercial fleet Philip Williams said slashing road transport fuel consumption remains a priority and the Shell FuelSave Partner system can help haulage businesses identify areas of their employees' driving style that can be improved.
"Now, with easier, more comprehensive communication with drivers, commercial road transport fleets have even more potential to save fuel," Mr Williams was quoted as saying.
