Transaero boosts Stansted's air freight offerings

15 July 2013/Categories: Industry News

Transaero has boosted Stansted Airport's air freight offerings by introducing new services to Moscow.

Although air cargo activity is down across Europe, Stansted has been performing relatively well, transporting more than 240,000 tonnes of goods to destinations all over the world.

It is the third biggest cargo hub in the UK and plans to spend £80 million on redeveloping its terminal building were recently unveiled.

The fact that Russian freight carrier Transaero has chosen to use the aviation facility will only enhance the airport's reputation further.

Business development manager for Manchester Airports Group (MAG) - the organisation that purchased Stansted earlier this year - Conan Busby said the airport is the only complex in London with enough spare capacity and world-class infrastructure to cater for the growing demand for freight services.

"This is the first new cargo service to London Stansted since the recent acquisition by MAG, and we are certain it will not be the last," he remarked.
