Companies that run a fleet of vans are increasingly using satellite navigation systems in order to cut down on unnecessary fuel costs.
According to the latest Nissan Van Report, 45 per cent of drivers and 40 per cent of fleet operators think sat-nav is essential and is far more important than vehicle trackers, Bluetooth and parking sensors.
New sat navs provide motorists with routes that cut out dense traffic, thus enabling them to save money on fuel.
With the AA recently revealing that diesel prices are still rising, it is no surprise to see logistics businesses doing all they can to become more economical.
In fact, Nissan said as many as three-quarters of fleet operators that took part in the survey are actively looking for ways to reduce their fuel consumption.
More than 80 per cent of respondents cover over 200 miles in an average day, so the potential savings of using a navigation system that enables drivers to get to their destination as quickly and efficiently as possible could be huge.
