Kent County Council has agreed to pre-let a 110,000 sq ft warehouse facility from Europa Capital and Goodman.
A 25-year lease has been secured and the sizable facility will be used by the local authority's educational supplies subsidiary.
The building will be based at the New Hythe Commercial Park, which is conveniently placed close to Junction 4 of the M20.
Funds for the new warehouse will be provided by Europa Capital and Goodman and the complex should be ready by the end of 2013.
This is the first agreed letting at the New Hythe site and it follows on from the news that Goodman has received planning permission to erect three Grade A warehouses at the park, totalling 232,000 sq ft.
Much has been made of the apparent shortage of quality distribution centres that are bigger than 100,000 sq ft, so it is always encouraging to see large-scale developments being given the green light.
Charles Crossland, managing director of Goodman UK Logistics, said strong forward planning has ensured that Kent County Council will be in a position to occupy the facility by the end of the year.
