Companies continue to favour warehouses in Avonmouth

08 April 2013/Categories: Industry News

Companies continue to look towards Avonmouth when setting up new warehouses and distribution centres in the UK.

The suburb of Bristol is extremely convenient, as it is right on the busy M5 motorway and some major companies have moved to the area in recent years.

According to the Bristol Post, the likes of Asda, Yankee Candle and Oak Furniture Land have all recently taken up storage space in Avonmouth.

Figures suggest that 6.1 million sq ft of warehouse space was leased out in the south-west in 2012.

That said, there are real concerns that the supply of large-scale distribution centres throughout the UK is starting to dry up, with Jones Lang LaSalle one of many real estate specialists to warn of potential warehouse shortages in the future.

Last month, Colliers said that the problem is particularly noticeable in the east of England, where logistics properties are expected to be fully occupied within the next 15 months.
