It has been a difficult few weeks for logistics companies, with much of the UK's road network being blighted by snow and ice.
This is the coldest March since 1962 and the AA has warned that the adverse driving conditions will continue through to the Easter weekend.
The breakdown specialist confirmed on Monday (March 25th) that it had been called out to 1,100 incidents where people have been stuck in snow, ice or flood water since last Thursday.
According to representatives of the firm, Birmingham and the Lake District have been the two areas that have provided the most callouts, although there have been problems all over the country.
"With temperatures barely rising above freezing, icy conditions are expected to persist until at least Easter weekend, so take extra care, particularly when approaching junctions and roundabouts," commented Darron Burness, the AA's head of special operations.
Supply chains must have been hoping that March would have brought an end to the wintry conditions, as many firms lost out on huge sums of money because of the disruptions caused by blizzards between November and February.
