Sri Lanka does not have a single modern passenger transportantion mode or terminal to speak about at present. The first such teminal is expected to come up in Kandy following a proposalk prepare by the team headed by Senio Professor, Department of Transport and Logistics, University of Moratuwa, Professor Amal Kumarage. The project proposal has been picked up for implementation through the Defense and Urban Development Ministry, with the fund provided by the World Bank. Professor Kumarage is hopeful that the Kandy project would help transform Sri Lanka's public transport system into the 21st century. Read more
