He noted the growth of this sector in Oman, which has grown alongside the country's infrastructural development and is set to include rail transportation in the not too distant future. The role of logistics was further elaborated on in a video presentation, where it was shown to play an important part in many different areas of industry, ranging from waste disposal to energy source and pharmaceutical products transportation. This includes transportation via road, rail, sea and air. Kamil Tahir Gani, Operations Manager for Sun Logistics Int'l and Deputy Chairman of OLSCA, gave a brief on OLSCA and its latest developments. This was followed by a presentation on NVQ study for newcomers, supervisors and executives within the industry that was given by Alexander Borg, Regional Director and Coordinator, CILT - UAE. In his address, Keith Newton commented on CILT International's Aspire scholarship programme and noted that Oman has become the 30th country to have a CILT Int'l branch. CILT has over 33,000 members working in over 100 countries worldwide. It was in established 1919 and received a Royal Charter in 1926 with its current patron being Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Together with OLSCA, CILT Int'l will endeavour to fulfill their principle of ‘promoting, and encouraging the art and science of logistics and transport' here in the Sultanate.
