Mallam Habib Abdullahi, managing director of Nigerian Ports Authority, has said that the Authority is gender sensitive and will continue to give women employees all necessary support and encouragement.
Abdullahi disclosed this while receiving the executive members of Women in Logistics and Transport [WILAT] Nigeria chapter led by Hajia Aisha Ali-Ibrahim, its president who paid him courtesy visit in his office in Lagos.
The managing director congratulated the WILAT President and other members of the executive, adding that “it is a thing of joy that one of our own, Hajia Ali-Ibrahim triggered the establishment of the body in Nigeria. It is a moral reTin Can Island Portsponsibility on our part to support you. We are gender sensitive. We will give you all the support and encouragement you require”.
Aisha Ali-Ibrahim, president of WILAT and also traffic manager, Tin Can Island Port, had thanked the Managing Director and his team for the roles played by the Authority in the establishment of WILAT in Nigeria and for other support through sponsorship of members training and seminars.
While promising that WILAT members will continue to be good ambassadors of the Authority and Nigeria, she appealed for more training sponsorship that will provide networking opportunities for women.
The WILAT president was accompanied by Mrs. Ugo Madubuike, general Manager, Business Development and Joint Venture Division; Mrs. Mohammed, asst. general manager; Mrs. Fayemiwo Personnel, asst. general manager, Administration., Mrs. Julie Ogboru, a member of board of Trustee, among others.
The Authority’s team comprised Engr. David Omonibeke, executive director, Marine and Operations; Mr. Olumide Oduntan, executive director, Finance and Administration; and Mohammed Saleh, executive director, Engineering and Technical Services,
Women in Logistics and Transport is a branch of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport [CILT], established to encourage the participation of women at CILT functions and to encourage professionalism and career progression of women in Logistics and Transport.
It consists of members from different specialisations and disciplines, working in the transport and logistics sector.
