First Bus has announced the appointment of Adrian Jones as Operations Director, with responsibility for driving improvements in operational and safety performance across its portfolio of bus businesses. 

Adrian has extensive operational experience having formerly been Managing Director of First’s London business for six years between 2007 and 2013 and more recently Managing Director of First Essex.  He will continue to report to Regional Managing Director, Neil Barker, who said: 

'I’m delighted Adrian has accepted this new role which underpins our commitment to efficient and sustainable service delivery, supporting growth across our local businesses.' 

Adrian Jones said: 'I’m already relishing the new role and determined to build on the considerable operational achievements that have already been delivered across First Bus. However, our pursuit of operational excellence is relentless and I’m confident that working with the local teams we will deliver further improvements.' 

He added: 'I’m leaving behind a fantastic team in Essex who are absolutely committed to improving services and attracting more people on to the bus.' 

First also confirmed that following Adrian’s promotion, Alex Jones, Operations Director at First Essex, has been appointed Interim Managing Director of the company.
