For the past seven years 9 May has been National Train Day in the USA. This year, as part of the 100 Years of Women in Transport (YOWIT) programme, TfL will also be celebrating and introducing their own National Train Day to the UK.
TfL’s aim is to engage people with the YOWIT programme on social media platforms by creating an interactive, light-hearted and fun campaign which both our workforce and customers can get involved with.
Twitter users will be asked to share interesting facts, train-related puns and photographs on Saturday 9 May using the hashtag #TrainDayUK.
On Saturday 9 May, the YOWIT twitter account will be tweeting train-related facts and puns throughout the day. The YOWIT Instagram account will also post images relating to trains. Users who engage with the campaign using the hashtag #TrainDayUK will be retweeted, ‘favourited’ and responded to by the 100 Years of Women in Transport team.
