TfL launch Twitter campaign to celebrate National Train Day

06 May 2015/Categories: CILT, Industry News, Active Travel & Travel Planning, Rail, Transport Planning

For the past seven years 9 May has been National Train Day in the USA. This year, as part of the 100 Years of Women in Transport (YOWIT) programme, TfL will also be celebrating and introducing their own National Train Day to the UK.

TfL’s aim is to engage people with the YOWIT programme on social media platforms by creating an interactive, light-hearted and fun campaign which both our workforce and customers can get involved with.

Twitter users will be asked to share interesting facts, train-related puns and photographs on Saturday 9 May using the hashtag #TrainDayUK.

On Saturday 9 May, the YOWIT twitter account will be tweeting train-related facts and puns throughout the day. The YOWIT Instagram account will also post images relating to trains. Users who engage with the campaign using the hashtag #TrainDayUK will be retweeted, ‘favourited’ and responded to by the 100 Years of Women in Transport team.

How you can get involved:

1) Follow @transportwmn on Twitter and Instagram
2) Respond to tweets and post content on Saturday 9 May using the hashtag
#TrainDayUK
3) Encourage those in your sector to get involved by following @transportwmn
on Twitter and Instagram and posting content on Saturday 9 May using the
hashtag #TrainDayUK.
4) Use your own social media channels to promote and encourage engagement
with the campaign. The campaign will be focused on Twitter and Instagram,
so please direct traffic to these channels from other social media sites.
5) Contact relevant stakeholders and ask them to engage with the campaign
using the hashtag #TrainDayUK and to follow @transportwmn to receive
campaign updates.

If you have any questions please email YOWIT@tfl.gov.uk
