Contract logistics specialist Gist has been chosen by fruit producer Berry Gardens to deliver all of its produce in the West Midlands.
Berry provides products such as strawberries and raspberries to Sainsbury's stores up and down the country - and this is a high growth industry.
Gist noted that sales of homegrown berries in UK supermarkets have increased by 130 per cent over the last four years, Logistics Manager reports.
Higher demand is expected over the summer, particularly during events such as the Henley Regatta and the Wimbledon tennis championships.
"Gist's collaborative approach has enabled us to reduce food miles while maintaining service to our customers," commented supply chain director for Berry Gardens Duncan Mills.
The agreement represents an extension of the 20-year partnership between the two organisations.
