Foundation launched by Royal Logistics Corps

30 June 2015/Categories: Industry News

The Royal Logistics Corps (RLC) has launched the RLC Foundation - a special body assigned the responsibility of engaging with professional organisations and academia outside the army.

It is hoped that military logistics will be able to benefit from a greater level of ideas exchange and thought leadeship coordination as a result of the development.

The Foundation is set to examine the possibility of implementing new training opportunities through engagement with industry.

This is expected to include hands-on training and attachments, which could benefit both the military and its industry partners.

An event was hosted by the organisation last month, which focused on some of the differences between the commercial and military logistical worlds.

Brigadier Martin Moore, who commands 101 Logistic Brigade, noted that supply chain resilience in the commercial world is mainly concerned with mitigating supply-side disruptions, whereas in the military it also has to mitigate demand variability.
