Smartfusion project wins academic award

03 July 2015/Categories: CILT, Industry News, Freight Forwarding, Logistics & Supply Chain, Transport Planning

Smartfusion has won the Best Environmental Initiative prize at Newcastle University's Annual Environment Awards.

The logistics organisation was praised for its delivery consolidation scheme and electric vehicle use in particular.

Projects and initiatives that demonstrate commitment to reducing the University's environmental impact are recognised by the academic award, as well as those that work towards helping achieve the University's sustainability objectives.

Chair of the University's Environment and Sustainability Committee Professor Tony Stevenson selected the winners.

Smartfusion has also been granted the Outstanding Procurement Team prize from the Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards.

The collaborative work relating to Smartfusion's efforts to reduce the number of delivery vehicles on campus and cut carbon footprint led to it attaining recognition in this category.
