Profits double at DHL supply chain

DHL has revealed that its UK operating profit more than doubled for its supply chain division in 2014.

Profits rising
Operating profit for the last year rose to £88.7m from £37.3m in 2013. DHL said the underlying performance in the UK was strong ‘with new business renewals off-setting the effect of any lost business, resulting in turnover growth of 7%. The performance in the retail, automotive and life sciences sector was particularly strong during 2014.” The UK accounts for 40% of the turnover of DHL supply chain globally.

$108m Americas hub investment
Recently, DHL announced plans to invest $180m in its facility at Cincinnati Airport in Kentucky, USA. The investment is to expand DHL’s Americas facility, one of the logistics company’s three global hubs. More aircrafts will be accommodated with new gates and warehouse space, which will also hold updated equipment for sorting, unloading and reloading shipments.
