MoD extends contract with Lockheed Martin

29 July 2015/Categories: CILT, Industry News, Logistics & Supply Chain

Lockheed Martin's Joint Asset Management and Engineering Solutions (James) contract with the Ministry of Defence (MoD) has been extended for a further six years.

The £18 million deal will see Lockheed Martin continue to oversee the management of millions of military equipment parts used by the UK Armed Forces.

Users across the British Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force are able to identify the status, availability, condition, ownership, location and quantity of equipment very quickly through the use of the logistics technology.

Information on many types of items from screws and bolts through to weapons and vehicles can be accessed by the user, meaning reliable, up-to-the-minute information is on hand to support decision-making and improve operational effectiveness.

Transformational logistics lead of training and logistics solutions for Lockheed Martin Andy Shaffer said: "[James] has brought a number of benefits over the last decade, and we look forward to continuing our relationship with the MoD under this new six-year contract."
