GB Railfreight runs first gypsum transport

04 August 2015/Categories: CILT, Industry News, Freight Forwarding, Logistics & Supply Chain, Rail

GB Railfreight has run its first transport delivery for plasterboard producer Siniat.

This comes in the wake of the rail freight company's short-term contract win in September 2014, which requires the firm to transport gypsum between West Burton and Portbury, Logistics Manager reports.

The contract lasts for five years, stipulating that four trains are to be operated per week to fulfill orders, each using one box wagon set.

From August 1st, GB Railfreight doubled its freight operations for Siniat, taking over the running of six trains per week from Cottam to Ferrybridge, each involving a second box set.

Business unit gypsum strategy manager at Siniat Andrea Deakin said her company is a major supplier for thousands of construction projects up and down the country, so it is vital to make sure raw material distribution is effective.

"GB Railfreight have proved themselves to deliver on their promises and Siniat are very pleased to have signed this new contract with them," she commented.
