16 September 2015/Categories: CILT, Industry News, Aviation

Edinburgh Airport has recorded more than a million passengers in one month - for the fourth time in a row.

More than 1.1 million people passed through the airport in August, an increase of 8.7% on a year ago.

Edinburgh said it was a record for August.

Domestic passenger numbers rose by 8.9% to more than 467,000, following increased services to London with Ryanair and Flybe and easyJet's Belfast service.

International traffic was 8.5% up on the same period last year, with a total of nearly 692,000.

Glasgow Airport reported its busiest summer in seven years, with almost three million passengers passing through the terminal during June, July and August.

In August, it recorded more than 878,000 passengers, representing an increase of 12.3% on the same period last year.

A strong demand for London and regional services saw domestic traffic increase by 10.7%, while international traffic grew by 13.4% due to strong uptake on both long haul and European services.

Aberdeen Airport reported a mixed set of figures.

A total of 321,442 passengers travelled through the airport last month.

Domestic travel was down by 8.5%, while international passenger figures showed a 0.9% increase on 2014 levels.

Helicopter traffic was down by 6.6% for the month, and remained below 2014 levels.
