Forwarder DB Schenker and parcel service provider, GLS, have agreed to a partnership that will expand both companies’ services to their customers. Schenker Logistics will offer a Europe-wide parcel service and GLS will expand into freight service. GLS, which is active in Europe, will deliver parcels for Schenker while Schenker Logistics will handle partial-load pallets for GLS. Schenker Logistics’ customers will now have a single logistics partner that can provide everything from parcel services to part and full-load services. DB SL has its own parcel service in the Nordic countries. GLS covers 37 countries in Europe with its parcel services. Under the new agreement, DB SL will manage parts of the transport chain itself and in general it will collect parcels and freight from customers. GLS will provide further transport and delivery to businesses and their end customers. The new partnership will get underway in January, starting in Germany, before broadening out to the rest of Europe.
