FORS collaborate with industry leaders at UK Construction Week

09 October 2015/Categories: CILT, Industry News, Freight Forwarding, Logistics & Supply Chain

Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) attended this week’s UK Construction Week at the NEC in Birmingham. FORS was joined by more than 1,000 exhibitors and an estimated 55,000 building and construction industry contractors and professionals. The event is designed to bring together all stakeholders within the built environment across every facet of design, build and product innovation.

FORS joined the Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) and Construction Logistics and Cycle Safety (CLOCS) in exhibiting at this year’s event and Glen Davies, Freight & Fleet Programme Manager, TfL delivered a presentation in the Infrastructure Hub titled: ‘Addressing the safety imbalance managing work related road risk’.

Glen covered the safety of vulnerable road users in the construction industry and spoke of the work that FORS is doing to address the issue and ensure that positive safety cultures are fostered on roads in the same way as they are on construction sites.

During the event, FORS Gold accredited company, CEMEX demonstrated the latest addition to their fleet. The Mercedes-Benz Econic tipper truck boasts 90% more visibility and gives the driver a wider field of vision, with a deep panoramic windscreen, a fully glazed floor-to-ceiling kerbside door and a low-entry cab.

FORS joined CLOCS, DVSA, Mercedes, SIG, CEMEX and TfL in presenting at this key industry event. The construction industry is crucial to the success and growth of the UK and logistics is a central aspect in the development of our infrastructure. FORS is committed to ensuring that the sector grows safely, efficiently and responsibly and will continue to work with operators to develop the standard nationally.
