Royal Mail opens ten temporary parcel sort centres

06 November 2015/Categories: Industry News

Ten temporary parcel sort centres are being opened by Royal Mail for Christmas as part of a wider drive to cope with increasing demand over the peak season.

A dedicated website has been launched for those who wish to apply for temporary positions at both the new centres and other sites up and down the country.

Some 3,000 seasonal workers will operate at the new locations, in support of the 123,000 postmen and women who sort and deliver the mail all year round for Royal Mail.

These new temporary members of staff will represent a comparatively small portion of the 19,000 seasonal workers taken on by Royal Mail this year.

Bathgate in West Lothian, Bradford, Leyland in Lancashire, Wolverhampton, Newport in Gwent, Swindon, Greenford, Peterborough, Bletchley in Milton Keynes and Heathrow are the locations of the new sites.

The phased opening of the centres began on November 2nd.
