The Freight Transport Association (FTA) has advised anyone involved in the management and movement of vehicles to ensure they take extra precautions as dangerous winter conditions start to set in on the roads.
In addition to this warning, the trade body highlighted its suite of products and services designed to support and advise operators and drivers at times like this, which are intended to help firms keep delivering goods and services.
Vital weather information is also provided by the FTA in collaboration with the Met Office - and a traffic information service is available too.
Head of road network management policy at the FTA Malcolm Bingham said the Met Office has become more focused on the impact of severe weather, which is why road users need to take heed of its warnings.
"The freight and logistics industry is reliable and makes arrangements to cope when hit with severe weather conditions, but FTA can provide additional information, support and equipment to help them keep moving," he remarked.
