DPD invests £14m in new depots for Christmas build-up

25 November 2015/Categories: Industry News

DPD - the UK's fastest-growing parcel delivery company - has announced it has invested £14 million in the construction of four new super depots in Cardiff, Dagenham, Exeter and Stoke.

Each super depot offers at least 60,000 sq ft of space - double the size of a standard DPD depot.

They will each be capable of handling 25,000 parcels a day and are fitted with state-of-the-art, fully automated sorting conveyors.

All of the super depots have been delivered ahead of the Christmas peak period, making a major contribution to an expected record season for DPD, with parcel volumes predicted to be 30 per cent up on last year.

DPD chief executive officer Dwain McDonald said the new sites are the largest and most efficient in his company's network.

"We're investing in capacity for the future, so these huge depots will be able to continue to grow for the next five years and beyond," he remarked.
