Eurotunnel says that it recorded its best day of the year for traffic on November 19th, with almost 6,800 trucks transporting goods in both directions.
This comes in spite of increased security controls, as 37 km of high security fencing has been installed.
In addition to this, numbers of security personnel have been tripled and coordination efforts with SNCF Reseau have been increased to help secure the Calais-Frethun freight yard.
Since these measures have been taken, attempted incursions have been reduced to almost zero and there has been no further disruption to services.
Continuous reviews will be in place in the future to help guarantee smooth running for transport, industry and consumers.
Eurotunnel chairman and chief executive officer Jacques Gounon said: "I would like to pay special tribute to the work of the men and women who provide the security that keeps this vital artery for European industry, culture and tourism open."
