Amazon is planning on enhancing its Prime service for paid subscribers with a new delivery system that will deliver small parcels to customers in 30 minutes or less.
To this end, the web retail giant has unveiled its Prime Air drones, the small remote-controlled aircraft that it intends to use to fulfil these orders.
In a statement published on its website, Amazon said: "Prime Air has great potential to enhance the services we already provide to millions of customers by providing rapid parcel delivery that will also increase the overall safety and efficiency of the transportation system."
The company acknowledged that implementing such a system is likely to take some time.
However, it emphasised its intention to deploy the small unmanned aerial vehicles as soon as it starts to gather the regulatory support it requires to realise the proposals.
