A report from the International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) has found that the average fuel consumption of new tractor trucks in Europe hasn't fluctuated in over 10 years.
The report also found that thanks to an upshot on efficiency regulations in the US, Europe will struggle to meet the same levels of fuel efficiency.
The study by the ICCT looked at key member states, the trends of fuel consumption and manufacturers to compare these results between Europe and the US.
As a collective working to improve efficiency in commercial vehicles, the ICCT has taken particular note of the positive efficiency measures made by companies in the US, Japan, China and Canada.
These countries have chosen to set target values in order to record significant improvements in their heavy-duty commercial vehicles.
