Supermarket giant Morrisons implements Microlise telematics system

09 December 2015/Categories: CILT, Industry News, Logistics & Supply Chain

Supermarket giant Morrisons has implemented Microlise telematics across 545 heavy goods vehicles as it aims to reduce fuel costs and cut carbon emissions.

The system has been deployed within six weeks of order including integration to Paragon’s Fleet Controller package.

Morrisons hopes it will maximise vehicle uptime, improve fuel performance and benefit from real-time visibility of its fleet against schedule.

“Following a competitive tendering process, we opted to deploy the Microlise solution across our fleet," said Nick McCurtin, head of central logistics at Morrisons.

"Having an effective and efficient fleet to resupply our 500-plus stores up and down the country is key to keeping shelves stocked.

"Implementing Microlise helps us to do this in the most cost-effective way, while limiting our environmental impact."

The Microlise solution includes A-G rating tables to measure drivers’ performance on fuel efficiency.

It includes the Microlise DriveTab tablet, which is also used for two-way messaging and vehicle checks.

In a second phase, Morrisons will also use it for manifest management with guided routes for the driver to follow.
