DB Schenker expands with Redhead deal

14 December 2015/Categories: Industry News

Early in the new year, Schenker AG will acquire a 75 per cent stake in Redhead Holdings to merge with its existing logistics business, reports Logistics Manager.

The merge with DB Schenker Logistics will see the new joint venture trade under the name Redhead International.

Over 300 vehicles will form the transport for this new venture and will operate from five depots alongside offices and partner relationships across the whole of Britain.

Currently, Redhead is based in Bradford and runs services to over 40 European and North African countries.

Redhead also operates specialist services to and from Eastern Europe and Russia alongside maintaining its membership to the Palletforce network.

Speaking on the acquisition was the board member for Land Transport at Schenker AG Ewald Kaiser, who said that it "underscores our strategy to strengthen and grow our pan-European network".

He added that this new venture would improve the company's "access to the UK market and the combined resources will facilitate our strategic growth aims".
