Supply chain concerns for healthcare sector

16 December 2015/Categories: Industry News

Logistics decision makers in the healthcare sector are tackling their biggest supply chain concerns in the sector, according to new survey from UPS.

The survey, entitled 'Pain in the (Supply) Chain', involved 437 interviews with healthcare logistics executives across 16 countries. It found that product security and cost management remain the main concerns for healthcare supply chains, reports Supply Management.

Areas where this continues to cause concern for healthcare logistics executives include Europe, North America and Asia Pacific, among others.

Particularly poor supply chain visibility, physical protection from theft and too many links in the supply chain are causing the main product security challenges according to the UPS survey.

Similarly, only half of respondents reported that they had been successful in addressing supply chain cost management, despite the survey showing that this was up by 38 per cent from the previous year.

Another area that remains difficult is in cost management, it seems that most of the respondents to the survey felt that improving transport costs was the best way to reduce supply chain costs overall.
