Parcel delivery company Hermes has reported its busiest ever peak season during the Christmas season throughout December 2015.
Throughout the month, the delivery firm processed 30.3 million parcels, which was a 24 per cent uplift from the previous year.
This record-breaking peak followed a fruitful Black Friday weekend for the company, in which it processed 8.2 million parcels and the busiest day of the year for Hermes was on Friday 4th December when it recorded a huge send-out of 1.4 million parcels.
Speaking on the successful period, Carole Woodhead, CEO, at Hermes said: "Our success during the recent peak season is testimony to the meticulous planning between our client managers and retailers."
Ms Woodhead attributed the processing volumes to an investment in a "secondary tier at our fully automated hub in Warrington". The delivery service also opened another 125 sub depots across the country and added an extra 3,000 couriers to its network for the festive season.
