ASOS to build Eurohub

13 January 2016/Categories: Industry News

Online fashion retailer ASOS has started building a new European distribution centre just outside Berlin, in Grosbeeren, which is set to have an end investment volume of €80 million (£60 million).

The new Eurohub facility is twice the size of the centre that the company currently has and it is to measure 44,000 sq m, reports Logistics Manager. There is also the potential for the retailer to expand the distribution centre to a 90,000 sq m facility.

A spokesperson for ASOS said: "The building will be operational in 2017 and is a response to business growth across Europe."

The retailer hopes that by expanding its distribution warehousing that it will be able to supplement the ever-increasing number of orders from its European customer base.

The layout of the new site will feature eight single-storey warehouses, which are to create 85,100 sq m of logistics space.

CEO of ASOS Nick Beighton commented on the new site saying that the "new warehouses, along with automation technology, will eventually provide us with a total capacity of 20 million units and represents an extensive project for us over the next four years".
