A new B2B website called Zupplychain has been launched to advertise available warehouse pallet space and allow potential customers to search for their required storage.

One of the founders, Chris Hopkinson, has previously owned a distribution business and was a founding investor and non-executive of AO.com, reports Warehouse News.

The website aims to emulate peer to peer other similar sites such as Airbnb and Uber, which meet the needs of both supplier and consumer.

Zupplychain's managing director Martin Elgood explained: "Much as we tried, we often didn't have the stock levels we predicted: either our customers sold more than expected, or less… And we were often in need of additional short term third party warehousing."

The new format will give those who aren't in the habit of using third party warehousing the opportunity to store products with a wealth of new contacts.

Using this service could present customers with storage facilities in better locations, with the lack of a contract serving as a flexible bonus for both parties.
