Property developer IDI Gazeley has won planning approval for the development of the new DHL warehouse at Magna Park.
A detailed planning development, DHL's new warehouse will be a 1,085,476 square metre expansion of its current warehouse network, reports Logistics Manager.
Gwyn Stubbings of IDI Gazeley said that there was keen competition for space at Magna Park. Large retailers such as Costco and Primark had decided to leave the area due to the lack of space for their own plans for expansion.
DHL has submitted two more applications for more plans to expand, which could see its warehousing increase by around seven million square feet. However, these applications will not be taken into consideration at the present date.
IDI Gazeley can expect further competition for space as rival developer dbSymmetry hopes to build around three million square feet to another area of Magna Park.
