GEFCO now importing and storing cars at Port of Ramsgate

02 February 2016/Categories: Industry News

Global and international logistics company GEFCO is now importing and storing cars at the Port of Ramsgate for their further distribution across the UK.

To enable this storage and distribution, GEFCO has partnered with Thanet District Council, reports Logistics Manager.

GEFCO has just taken its first shipment of cars, which saw the partnership moving 1,000 vehicles from Belgium into the UK.

For its section of the partnership, Thanet Council dredged the port and GEFCO has made investment into proper storage systems at the port. GEFCO has also provided the area with security officers to monitor the storage facilities.

Finished vehicle logistics director at GEFCO UK John Stocker said he was pleased with the initial stages of the first shipment of vehicles.

He commented: "This new service is a result of several months of planning and co-operation between GEFCO UK and Thanet District Council and we look forward to a continuing mutually beneficial partnership."

The partnership also outlines the potential of the facilities that the Port of Ramsgate will be able to provide for logistical purposes.
