New hand-held technology to boost warehouse productivity

03 February 2016/Categories: Industry News

Delivery company Hermes has invested in a new hand-held gadget from Zebra Technologies that is set to improve customer delivery.

The state-of-the-art hand-held scanners are responsible for one of the largest mobile implementation projects in Europe. Hermes and the company's myHermes ParcelShops will be equipped with 20,000 TC75 mobile computers from Zebra to provide greater visibility during the company's delivery process.

With the new system, Hermes continues to move towards its goal of 100 per cent first-time delivery success.

The device is 4G enabled and has a built-in camera, enabling it to capture high-quality photos. It also has improved GPS functionality in the hope it will decrease the amount of time that drivers are on the road.

With the new GPS system, it allows for geofencing technology, which will see parcels tracked by satellites all the way to the customer's doorstep.

Ashley Ford, vice president and general manager, EMEA, Zebra Technologies, said: "The enterprise asset intelligence Hermes will gain from this solution will result in new insights and ultimately, an outstanding experience for its customers."
