Rhyl train station in Wales has been given a full revamp as part of the plans to upgrade stations and their facilities across the country.

The plans have been put in place by Network Rail and the Welsh government and Rhyl's refurbishment has seen £2 million worth of changes to improve the facilities for its passengers.

A major change saw the complete upgrade of the station to provide a better layout and the ticket office and toilets have also been refurbished.

With regards to access, the footbridge at the station was given an upgrade and new benches, signs and ticket machines have been added to the platforms.

For sake of ease, new customer information screens have been installed and the entrance has received a facelift for an improved transition into Rhyl town.

James Jackson, route enhancements manager for Network Rail Wales, said that this work has been a "key part of our Railway Upgrade Plan in Wales".

He added: "Revitalising the station has also helped to transform the town centre and gives the local community a station they can rely on and be proud of."
