Poultry meat producer Moy Park is to spend £4 million to upgrade its equipment to process ready-to-eat cooked chicken lines at its Craigavon site.
The factory in Northern Ireland is currently having the new facilities installed, which includes continuous in-line oven cooking and chilling technology, reports Food Manufacture.
Moy Park has said that this ready-to-eat cooked chicken area represents one of key growth, which is why it is improving the equipment at its Craigavon plant. The changes will increase its capabilities of production and will give the business room to innovate as to how it can continue to be a part of this fast-paced category of poultry.
Keith Irvine, Moy Park's supply chain director, said: "[The company] is committed to growing the business through investment in both our industry-leading farming and operational facilities."
This is not the only initiative into which Moy Park is investing, as it is also putting £8 million into a multi-year skills programme that will help to support its European growth.
