Residents, road users and railway passengers have been invited by Network Rail to attend several drop-in events to learn about the work that is taking place to ready the railway under Bridge Street road bridge for a new fleet of electric trains.
These new trains will provide faster, more reliable and greener journeys for passengers on this line, which runs across the South Wales Mainline.
It is also hoped that it will stimulate economic growth by connecting towns and cities in south Wales and other areas.
The first of the events is due to take place at Newport indoor market and will be on between 10:30am and 2:30pm today (March 15th).
During this event, members of Network Rail will be there to answer questions from the public about the new electrification works and how it will benefit people in the area, as well as those who use the train.
