Wizz Air, the largest low-cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe, today announced it will begin direct service from London’s Gatwick Airport to Bucharest beginning 18 June. Fares for the new daily flights start at GBP 28.49* and are on sale now at wizzair.com. The new Gatwick connection to Bucharest will be the only direct connection between the two airports, offering the easiest access to the Romanian capital from the South London hub. With a total of four Wizz Air direct flights a day between London and Bucharest, the new Gatwick route adds a second option for travel from London along with Wizz Air’s direct three-times-a-day flights between Bucharest and London Luton in North London. Gatwick, a new airport for Wizz Air’s low-fares services, will be the company’s ninth airport in the United Kingdom along with London Luton, Doncaster-Sheffield, Bristol, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Belfast, Liverpool and Birmingham. From these nine U.K. airports, Wizz Air flies to 14 countries and now offers 76 routes, with fares on a number of routes starting as low as £18.49.* All seats are now on sale at wizzair.com. Wizz Air continues to contribute to economic development throughout the U.K., moving more than 5 million people through regional airports in 2015, supporting almost 3,750 local jobs in business, leisure and travel industries around the company’s destination airports. Since starting operations in 2004, Wizz Air has carried nearly 30 million passengers through U.K. airports. Wizz Air operates a fleet of Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft with an average age of four years old.
