Ford Transit van to be the most efficient to date

27 April 2016/Categories: Industry News

Automotive manufacturer Ford revealed a new range of Transit vans that will run on 2.0-litre EcoBlue diesel engines at the Commercial Vehicle (CV) Show in Birmingham.

The company believes that the new unit will be able to improve the van's efficiency by up to 13 per cent, reports Logistics Director.

As as result, it will outperform the miles per gallon figures of the 2.2-litre TDCi engine that's currently on the market.

In terms of real-world costs, the 2.0-litre iteration could save up to £1,250 over 80,000 miles when compared with the existing model.

Presently, the two-tonne Transit and one-tonne Transit Custom vehicles are the mainstay of the renewed Transit range. This also includes smaller and all-new Transit Connect and Transit Courier vans.

Pete Reyes, Ford of Europe's head of commercial vehicles, said: "The challenge was to take our best-selling Transit and make it cheaper to operate, improve performance, cleaner in terms of emissions.

"That's exactly what we did with the new Transit and Transit Custom with the all-new Ford EcoBlue engine."
