HMRC have started a public consultation on proposals for a new due diligence scheme for UK fulfilment handling goods imported from outside the European Union. The consultation is about the introduction in 2018 of a new online scheme for UK fulfilment houses, which will set out standards of due diligence and record-keeping, and introduce penalties for non-compliance. CILT will be preparing a response to the consultation on behalf of members and is seeking your views on this matter. CILT will also be represented at the meeting of HMRC JCCC on 17th May which was called by trade representatives to express concern about the impact of the proposals on the industry. Please send your thoughts to Susan Morley, Chair, Customs and International Trade Compliance Forum who is attending the meeting and drafting the CILT consultation response.
