Morrisons pleased to report increase in sales

05 May 2016/Categories: Industry News

Supermarket chain Morrisons has reported like-for-like (LFL) sales for the second consecutive quarter from the 13 weeks up to and including 1st May.

These LFL sales saw an increase of 0.7 per cent without fuel and 1.2 per cent including it during this particular quarter, reports Food Manufacture.

In general, LFL transactions also saw an uplift, reporting at 3.1 per cent increase over the previous quarter. These were heavily influenced by a rise of sales in Food to Go, which saw a year-on-year spike of 17 per cent.

The retailer is seen as unique when it comes to its food manufacturing capabilities, as compared to other supermarkets in the UK.

David Potts, chief executive, said: "Customers are responding and satisfaction levels remain ahead of last year. We are of course pleased with a second consecutive quarter of positive LFL sales, which demonstrates our aim to stabilise trade is taking effect."
