Those who travel to and from Chorley will be pleased to know that further railway upgrade work will be taking place soon and they can hear more about it at a public drop-in session.
Plans are to electrify the railway that passes through Chorley station on the Manchester to Preston line as part of Network Rail's Railway Upgrade Plan.
This is just one place where Northern Programmes is spending its £1 billion investment for the benefit of passengers, who will enjoy faster and more frequent trains through the area from December next year.
To accommodate the work both of Chorley's platforms will be rebuilt, as will the roofs over two subways inside and next to the station. In the meantime, a temporary platform will be installed for passengers who are travelling to Preston and Manchester.
Some work will have to take place in the evening and members of the local community can find out more information either at Chorley Town Hall this evening (10th May) or at Chorley station on 14th May between 9am and 1pm.
