The LRN Annual Conference 2016

17 May 2016/Categories: Student Voice

The University of Hull will host one of Europe’s leading conferences for research into logistics and supply chains. The LRN Annual Conference and PhD Workshop will take place on Wednesday 7th September - Friday 9th September 2016.

The theme for this year’s conference is ‘Doing the Right Thing – Ethical Issues in Logistics and Supply Chain’.

Now in its 21st year, the conference is a forum for presenting research results, current practice and new ideas in supply chain management, logistics and transport and brings together research students from different universities and departments as well as leaders from the logistics and supply chain sectors.

The 2016 conference theme will focus on work involving ethical issues in relation to supply chain management and logistics operations. The conference will demonstrate the current, promising research work within the theme in terms of its trends, challenges and opportunities, so as to discover and explore new research directions for the research community and the practitioners.

There are four free places, sponsored by the LRN, for full-time students. To be considered for one of these sponsored places, please send: A brief cover letter outlining the progress of your doctoral research, your reasons for wanting to come to the conference and what you expect to gain from the experience; your CV; evidence to show that you are a full-time doctoral student.

Enquiries and applications should be sent to Dr Elizabeth Jackson, Lecturer in Business, Royal Veterinary College (eljackson@rvc.ac.uk or 0170 766 6661).

This year’s LRN PhD Workshop will take place on the morning of Wednesday 7th September. It is aimed at doctoral students or those about to embark upon doctoral studies. The half-day workshop promises to be exciting and inspiring and will provide newcomers to LRN with the opportunity to settle in to the conference and meet new friends.

This workshop provides a unique opportunity to network with students from national and international universities; share the challenges of doctoral training with like-minded peers and benefit from the experiences of two leading supply chain/logistics scholars: Professor David Grant, Department of Mechanical, Materials and Manufacturing Engineering, The University of Nottingham and Dr Elizabeth Jackson, Lecturer in Business, Royal Veterinary College.

To reserve your place, please email allison.glandfield@ciltuk.org.uk or call 01536 740125.
