​Bibby Distribution has won the Freight Transport Association's (FTA's) Logistics Carbon Reduction Award, which was presented at the Multimodal Awards ceremony in Birmingham yesterday (26th May).

The company has been a member of the FTA's Logistics Carbon Reduction Scheme (LCRS) and is now being rewarded for its efficiency efforts.

Rachael Dillon, FTA's climate change policy manager, spoke highly of Bibby's commitment to reducing carbon emissions.

She said: "The LCRS scheme helps its members record, report and reduce emissions and Bibby has demonstrated how this can be achieved across a wide range of customer contracts.

"The company has collaborated with others to develop innovative decarbonisation actions and share best practice."

Using a variety of different initiatives, Bibby cuts emissions and fuel consumption by developing a milk collection vehicle that uses less diesel and dual-fuel vehicles.

Bibby is also pioneering virtual warehouses, which aim to help with the optimisation of route planning and bespoke driver training. By doing this the company will be able to reduce the amount of carbon it uses throughout every process of its business.
